“ He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along” Psalm 40:2
There was once a boy and he was at a playground. His mom let him stay there, as she to the store, as long as he followed the path straight home and didn’t go off of that path. So the boy played for awhile, and it started getting late so he decided to start off towards home, and behind him his friend followed. But along the way he saw a tree, and up in the top of the tree he saw a little tree house. He then remember what his mom had said about not leaving the path, so he continued on his way home. But the second boy didn’t listen to his mom and went up to the tree house and hung out for a bit. Not to long later he saw something else. His favorite! A little candy shop. He knew his mom said not to leave the trail, so he resisted the temptation and continued on the path. But again the second boy gave into temptation and went and bought pounds of candy. About 10 minutes later he saw something more. This time it was a little house, you know a little gingerbread house. It was just like the one in Hansel and Gretel. Now how could anyone pass this up? So he decided that if he went off the path for just a little bit, it couldn’t hurt that much. But as he turned towards the house, something stopped him. God had appeared. He told reminded the boy of what his mom had said, to stay on the path. Then he told the boy just to watch. The boy right behind him had seen the house too and gone off the path, when the boy got there the house caught on fire and burned to the ground. The boy died in the fire. That’s why God had kept him on the path, to protect the boy from the dangers that his mom knew of. Together the boy and God walked along the path back home, and when the boy got tempted God was right there to help him resist it.
So what’s the point? God knows what lies ahead of us. He will help us stay on the path and out of danger. But we have to listen to him and let him guide us. Otherwise we will end up like the second boy and stray away from God. And when we least expect it, we will die, and be separated from God forever. So which are you gonna be? The one who listens and lets God guide him, or the one who doesn’t listen to anyone and dies alone?
Questions For you now
What is the Path you are heading down right now?
Is God the one who is helping you down this path?
Does God even want you where you are?
If you stray are you going to let God help you bac k or are you going to do it yourself?
